… there are more Jews in Israel today than since the time of 135A.D. — about 7 million Jews are in Israel today.
Russia is returning to its former vision before the fall of the iron curtain. Syria is working very closely with Russia. Russia has sold and delivered to Syria very sophisticated air defense systems including the MIG 35 Echo – long range fighter jet.
Syria has also turned over the lease of the Tarsus seaport to the Russian navy which is expanding rapidly. The Russian presence is growing by leaps and bounds in the Middle East. This is complicated by Hezbollah which Iran is focusing on.
U.S. is considered the “great Satan” and would remain so even if we did not support Israel. We are the “great Satan” for two reasons: 1) Because we support Israel (but hatred for us wouldn’t be much different even if we didn’t support Israel) and, 2) because of the west’s values. Islam still views the world through the Crusades and they see the West as bearers of Christianity and Christian values and our opposition of Islam’s goal to take over the world for Allah. They evaluate us on what we export on TV and movies and this is an affront to the Middle East.
Next to the U.S., Islam hates Israel because it occupies land they believe belongs to Allah.
Their hatred of us for our Christian values is irrational and that’s what makes it so dangerous.

AL & ARLENE SZEKELY: Al is beginning to feel better from his blood infection and may check out of the Savannah GA hospital 10-25. However, they are remaining in the area for his prostate surgery in about 5 days (this next week sometime) and then he will need to rest for many more days before they travel on to FL. Keep them in your prayers.
SKIP REED was taken by ambulance to Cleveland Clinic 10-24 due to a severe headache and pain in one eye. At this writing, it is believed to have been “a stress related migraine.” He came home from the hospital last Friday.
ANITA CAIN (Pastor’s cousin in FL / the one who does our book reviews) had a routine check up when a large polyp was found but it was not cancerous. She came home Friday while they evaluate the next step.
TURN YOUR CLOCKS BACK ONE HOUR next Sunday morning – Nov. 4th (or Saturday night) - If you don’t you’ll be an hour early for church!
Today’s Sunday School offering will go entirely to our Africa missions project. Our thanks for your support this month.
We Welcome Our Guest!
SIDNEY CROWCROFT, Karen Cain’s mother, is in town for several days from Quincy IL baby sitting her grandchildren (Jacob & Adam) while Karen serves on jury duty. Well, that was the way it was going to work until Karen was dismissed from jury duty! So now she can be with her mother all day for several days! It’s always nice to have Sidney worship with us! She served as a Methodist pastor for several years and remains deeply involved in Christian ministry. Good to have you with us!
THE VOLLEYBALL / PIZZA OUTING last Sunday was enjoyed by nearly 20 people. The pizza was tasty, the chips crunchy and Mary Ellen brought sweets for Sweetest Day. Thanks to the Weavers, we had a new volleyball set and “corn hole” game (throwing corn filled bags from a distance at a hole) and they spearheaded the whole outing – even bringing friends with them. Thanks.
